Dear ICQ user,
We at ICQ would like to inform you that due to the most recent raise of the costs of supporting the services we provide a new very reasonable fee will be introduced for all ICQ users. It has become evident over the past year that we cannot maintain a free service, grow at our current rate and keep the level of service up to our standards, service up to our standards, all at the same time. The bottom line for us, like many other dot com companies, is that revenue and profit must now take a front seat ahead of user base and growth.
The fee is $9.99 and you will have to pay it only once.
After 1st of July 2003, however, all accounts, which have not been secured payment for, will be disabled or deleted. We do realize this could be regarded by many as a sudden and unpleasant step in our company's policies, but at the same time we at ICQ have no other choice, but to offset our ever-increasing costs of supporting the services we provide by levying a minimal usage fee.
If you are one of the first 100 000 users who secure the payment, we at ICQ will award you a very special gift certificate for the amount of $40.00 which you can spend in our online shops.
This is ALL you have to do to keep your account active. Don't reply to this mail.
